The Program
As an au
pair in China, you will
be welcomed into a new home with open
arms as you adjust to family life in
China. Proudly home to some of the
oldest historical wonders of the world,
this program will enable you to gain an
insight into this fascinating country.
RWC’s Au Pair program will place you
with a Chinese family interested in
giving their children not only a
cultural education but direct experience
of the English language. As an au pair
in China, you will have
the opportunity to look at family
profiles prior to your departure to help
decide on your placement.
Job Outline You will be expected to
spend a minimum of 25 hours per week as
an Au Pair with tasks like taking care
of the children, taking them to school,
and preparing food, etc. In addition,
most families will treat their Au Pair
like a member of the family and you will
be invited on family holidays and
gatherings!
Learning Chinese As part of the Au Pair
in China program, you will receive 8 to
12 hours of Chinese classes per week.
With the additional support of a small
classroom size and great teacher, your
Chinese will improve at a much faster
rate!
Social Outings There are a number of
cities you may find yourself placed in,
however, we design various social
opportunities so that you have the
opportunity to meet other Au Pairs.
There are also organized trips to see
local sites and explore the city. If
your close family and friends wants to
take lessons with you, it is no problem.
Location and
Accommodation
- Chinese
families in cities usually live in
apartments
- You are
guaranteed a private room and three
meals a day
- The
location is dependant on where the
family live
Requirements
Applicants
must:
- be between the ages of
18 and 29
- be fluent in
English without having a strong accent
- have a clean
criminal record
- have a strong interest
in China and a desire to learn
Getting Here
As an au
pair in China, upon arrival
in China you will be met by our highly
experienced staff. They will take you to
your orientation and will explain local
customs, best methods for communicating with
your host family and preparation for the
initial cultural differences you experience.
As an au pair in China, you will then be taken to your host family!
As an au pair in China, you will also be assigned a local
coordinator who will contact you weekly in
your first month and then monthly once you
are settled. They will be available to
provide help over the phone should you have
any questions or need assistance.
Additionally, we provide you with contact
details for other Au Pairs in China in your
surrounding area and social events are
arranged to involve everyone - including the
host families.
